Casablanca Vineyards, Chile

During the past month some of us colleagues from Latitud90 paid a visit to the always interesting and dynamic Casablanca Valley to learn more about some of the new products and options available for our clients in the area.
It was a pleasant surprise to see the creativity displayed by RE vineyards, a family owned vineyard that mixes the traditional winemaking process with some interesting blends, its modern cellar where it’s possible to have lunch, and its quaint shop.
We were also able to visit the recently refurbished expanded restaurant by Matetic vineyards, now bigger and with a more modern look, while maintaining its excellent gastronomy. With an excellent four stages pairing menu now available on our on line tariff.
Kingston Vineyard was also on the list, beautifully located in a nice hill overlooking the valley, this vineyard offers probably one of the most laid back visits without missing out on the great wine they produce in small quantities. Please email if you’d like to learn more about the different options and combinations of the area.
For those without having the time to visit Chilean Wine Valleys, Vinolia, a wine experience shop/theatre offers interactive wine tasting options while having the winemakers of the different vineyards explain on video how they produced the wines one is tasting. A different and yet interesting option.

Last Hope Sound Estancia

We are very excited to release a new product in Puerto Natales that is sure to be a highlight for any traveller visiting this part of Patagonia: A visit to a traditional Estancia located just half an hour away from Puerto Natales. In order to get there a short navigation is needed from Puerto Bories over to Antonio Varas sound.
Some of the options available include: horse riding, sheep shearing demonstrations, sheep dog work demonstrations, trekking or 4 wheel drive ride. All of these excursions can be chosen upon arrival depending on availability. The tour operates daily and the maximum capacity for the tour is 16 people. (Operations takes place between October and March).

King Penguins in Tierra del Fuego

It has been at least six years since a colony of King Penguins nested in Tierra del Fuego, within a local Estancia. This is the only nesting ground for them within the American continent for the second largest penguin type.
We will be offering a day trip to see these graceful creatures. The itinerary starts in Punta Arenas and consists on a short fly over to Porvenir and then drive to the colony to visit the reserve and then fly back to Punta Arenas. This is a perfect addition to any Torres del Paine itinerary with some idle time in Punta Arenas.

Worldwide Recognition for Chile

Chile seems to be the must-see destination this year: after being awarded last year the World Travel Awards for the best adventure tourism destination, well known magazines and websites are recommending it as the 2017 place to visit. The Telegraph (UK) mentioned Chile as the top 1 destination, describing it as “some of the most extreme environments on Earth, from deserts to fjords to subpolar islands, and the roads and footpaths and necessary infrastructure to make these accessible”. Not to be missed.

Torres del Paine National Park was mentioned as one of the 50 most beautiful places in the world by the renowned Condé Nast Traveler magazine, describing it as a “microcosm of all the things that make Patagonia such a spectacular place”. If you plan to visit, consider staying at the Tierra Patagonia hotel, selected among the world’s 50 best honeymoon hotels and destination by The Telegraph.

Likewise, the popular website TripAdvisor awarded Anakena Beach at Isla de Pascua the Travellers’ Choice 2017, highlighting it as one of the 25 most popular beaches in the world. This prize is based on thousands of opinions and commentaries made by visitors all around the world in its website.

And last but not least, The New York Times recommended the Atacama Desert as one of the 52 getaways to discover this year. It is magically described as a place that “draws adventure seekers and stargazers to its vast, otherworldly landscape of wind-carved dunes and kaleidoscopic salt lakes” and invites you to explore it in new ways.

These three destinations are well known by Latitud 90 and its team and we look forward to welcome you in Chile and show you the wonders of Patagonia, Isla de Pascua, Atacama Desert or your tailor-made trip through its long, rich and varied territory.

Chile on top

chile-travel-5-1120x664Chile continues to rise in the ranks as a top world tourist destination. Most recently Lonely Planet, the leading sustainable tourism board, and the World Travel Awards have recognized regions of Chile as top tourist sites.
This year Lonely Planet readers have voted the Aysen region of Chile as one of the best places in the world to visit. The Aysen region encompasses northern Patagonia. Two large ice fields, glaciers, beautiful blue lagoons, and a budding artisanal brewery scene characterize the Aysen region. Combine a visit to Laguna San Rafael National Park and see the magnificent San Rafael glacier calving, with the Persian green waters of Lago General Carrera, South America’s second-largest lake, for an experience unique to any other in the world. Sleep comfortably on the lake’s shores at Mirador de Guadal, explore the Exploradores Glacier or the Marble Cathedrals. Continue your Patagonian education at the in-house restaurant Quincho Patagonian barbecue offering traditional Patagonian and Chilean cuisine or take a break with international fare as well.
